About This Spot

Stepping into Curry Hyuga, you’re welcomed by the comforting hum of a bustling neighborhood spot where the focus is quietly centered on generous plates and heartfelt hospitality. The space is modest and warm, inviting you to pause, settle in, and savor a meal that strikes a familiar yet distinct chord—one deeply rooted in the traditions of Japanese curry but delivered with fresh personality and care.

There’s a rhythm here that mirrors the cozy flow of a beloved local gem, where the steady stream of guests gradually fills the small dining area, creating a subtle buzz without overwhelming the senses. The attentive staff move thoughtfully through the space, offering a reassuring presence that complements the genuine atmosphere of the place.

The menu is a comforting exploration of homestyle flavors, featuring the kind of hearty, richly spiced curry dishes that feel like a warm embrace on a crisp day. Each plate arrives with a sense of generosity—whether it’s the crisp crunch of katsu that offers a satisfying contrast to the smooth, thick curry sauce, or the creamy corn potage soup that sets the tone for a meal meant to be savored slowly. Appetizers like the karaage chicken provide a tempting introduction, perfectly crisp and full of savory notes, while vegetable sides and thoughtfully prepared salads bring freshness and balance.

It’s not just about the food’s comforting flavors; it’s the unfolding human moments—the quick exchange between server and guest, the shared smiles over a bustling lunch, the easy camaraderie found in a place where locals return again and again. Time here moves at a comfortably unhurried pace, making it just as much a spot for a quiet solo meal as it is for gathering with friends or family.

In this small corner of Cupertino, Curry Hyuga quietly stakes its claim as a welcoming haven for those who appreciate meals that are both satisfying and sincere, where portion sizes remind you to slow down and truly enjoy the blend of textures and tastes presented with a warm, practiced hand.

Wow wow wow!!! Instantly added to my favorites. The katsu is chef's kiss, the appetizers are amazing, and the staff are attentive. Definitely coming back!

Second time at Curry Hyuga and it was just as delicious as the first time. Corn soup is full of flavor, creamy, and just the right amount of croutons. Potato salad is fresh and delicious. We LOVE the red pickled acoutremont. The curry is thick and flavorful. The veggies are yummy. The pork/veggie katsu was big portions, fresh and crunchy. We recommend getting there early as it does get busy quickly.

The portions here are huge! We each ordered one, but couldn’t finish. Pork Cutlet Curry: The cutlet was a bit thin, and it felt like a very traditional Japanese-style curry. It was tasty. Beef Omurice Curry: The curry had a slightly tangy flavor, maybe from bell peppers — quite unique.

I've been here numerous times, and it's always been a great experience. The food is delicious and oftentimes freshly fried, with massive portions (seriously, as an adult it's hard for me to finish). The service staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, it's a small venue but they definitely make the most of it. There's usually a bit of a wait but it's not too bad to wait out in the nearby plaza. The only complaint I have is that occasionally, the pork katsu can be a tad overly fatty with cuts of cartilage.

The flavors of the curry are just right, but the rice is undercooked and the egg is overcooked. Parking was easy to find, and the wait in the line wasn't too long, although it wasn't obvious that you had to check into the tablet at the front in order to receive a spot in line, as it's kind of hidden.

Excellent experience at this curry place! They are highly popular and a line forms within 15 minutes of them opening usually. Their spice level was very spicy and had a good kick and they also have the spices at the table if you want to try them out yourself! Service was prompt and the portions are huge! It’s enough for 2 meals for me and I brought back the leftovers.

A good option for katsu curry. The signature curry and the corn soup were very good. The Hayashi om rice was not to our taste. The service is outstanding! These guys work really hard. Overall a pleasant experience.
